For our second day in Santorini we decided to spend it by sightseeing around the Island. What we found great about this Island is that you can get from one end to the other in 45 minutes, so you can get a lot done.
Our first stop was Akrotiri Lighthouse located on the extreme southwest part of the island, standing on the edge of a high cliff right above the sea, situated in a peaceful place, surrounded by sea. Perfect to watch the sunset if you want some where more quiet and romantic feel to it.
We then drove to Red Beach, one of the most famous beaches in Santorini. Located near the ancient site of Akrotiri. You can either walk down to the beach or like we did and stay at the top admire the unique landscape of the red and black volcanic rocks.
On our next stop was Perissa Beach, beautiful black sand beach. Great places if you want a hotel right next to the beach and that has everything from, restaurants, cafes and bars. There is a small path that crosses the mountain and leads to the ruins of Ancient Thera. We sadly didn’t get to go to the Ancient Thera this time. We decided to grab something to eat at Ra Maya to eat some lunch.
The last stop we visited was Episkopi Gonias a village near the Capital of Fira. The village was almost destroyed by an earthquake in 1956, as a result residents moved near the coast and built the village of Kamari. You can still see the old buildings where residents lived as well as a incredible breathtaking views of the Island.
We decided to head back to our hotel and watch the sunset while taking a dip in the pool. Felt so magical watching the sunset while taking a dip in the pool with music. From the moment we got back we left our phones and enjoyed every moment.
