Last Summer for my birthday myself and Nelson decided on spending it in Madeira, which come to think about I don’t think I ever had my birthday there and it’ll be 2 years in a row that I spent it abroad so I couldn’t complain.
I didn’t want to make this travel post a so long so I decided to break it down to 3 posts, just because there is so many photos I couldn’t choice to cut.
We flew out on My birthday (8th July), initially I wasn’t up for doing anything for it other than going out for a meal with Nelson and his parents but that ended up changing and turned into a party which turned out alright.
The next day (9th) we headed to a hotel as part of my gift from Nelson. We drove down to Calheta Beach to Savoy Saccharum Resort & Spa Hotel where we was staying for the night. Here is what they say about their hotel.
Located in the municipality of Calheta, overlooking the sea and close to the Marina of Calheta, the SAVOY SACCHARUM RESORT & SPA has been designed with a natural and landscaping of exceptional quality, allowing you to enjoy, at the same time, the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the mountain. As a design resort, SAVOY SACCHARUM counted on the signatures of the modern and innovative RH + architecture studio and the renowned interior designer from Madeira, Nini Andrade Silva, who opted for a contemporary decoration using as its main element, sugar cane.– Savoy Saccharum Resort & Spa
The resort and hotel has a relaxing feel, great place if your looking for a detox or a getaway. They have 3 pools, an indoor pool with spa and 2 outdoor pools one located on the roof top and the second (for adults) located on the lower roof by the restaurant. For Dinner we headed downstairs to the restaurant where they do buffets and different type of foods for everyone. You only pay one set price each and you can eat how ever much you want.
The next day we drove around through the mountains, our plan was to head over to Sao Vicente but we ended up driving to a different road and found ourselves find new treasures we’ve never been to before.
Our first stop was Ribeira Da Janela from there we headed to Lido for some lunch which its come a returning spot for lunch day out in Madeira, the best place for Bolo do caco.
