Amsterdam was a holiday that was a last-minute day getaway. We knew that we wanted to have day trip again and Amsterdam was next on our list of Day Trips. The last time we did a day trip to another country was Paris which if you haven’t yet go see that post –link–
We took the early flight (8AM) out from Luton airport to Amsterdam on Sunday morning. We arrived at the airport around 4am, we was lucky to get a lift from dad while he was on his way to Gatwick airport for his holiday. We did have to wait a few hours at the airport before our flight but can’t complain as we had a good damn breakfast that we was looking forward to.
We landed in Schiphol, Netherlands around 10AM, where we then had to catch a train to Amsterdam Centraal. Super easy to use the underground, similar to London Underground where you have to top up an oyster card, tap in and out.
We had booked a boat tour that shows you all the main spots in Amsterdam, I recommend doing so you learn a lot about the city and you get to see amazing architecture.
After the Boat Tour we walked around the city, starting towards National Monument.
We watched the bus to Hobbemastraat where I Amsterdam sign is located.
It was super pact that we couldn’t get a photo of the sign clear that we had to go to the top of the ice rink bridge to take a photo of it.
We stayed in Amsterdam Centraal till 5pm as we had to catch a flight back to London at 7PM and we didn’t want to risk being late for our flight.
Amsterdam is an awesome city, beautiful architecture and so many nice desert that we got tempted to eat. I will be going back again to visit Amsterdam and other parts of Netherland.
I highly recommend visit Amsterdam for a day (or more), so much to see and you can do it all by walking distance or a quick bus/boat ride.
